Good Practice in using 360 degree feedback

Achieving ‘Good Practice’ should be the aim of all 360 degree feedback users. Too often, however, day-to-day practicalities mean that processes don't  flow as we want them to, or the challenges we face bear little resemblance to the ‘best practice’ we read about.

At Head Light, we’re committed to sharing and exploring the use of 360 degree feedback across organisations. Our Police Talent User Group developed its own Good Practice Guide and now we've built on this and created out new Guide to Good Practice in Using 360 degree feedback.

We made a clear decision not to present this as a ‘Best Practice’ guide as the term itself suggests a single paramount approach to adopt. Instead, we see this as an evolving set of principles which will be refined, adapted and amended as working practices develop and review situations change. In the document we explore the initial 'selling in' of a 360 degree programme and how to involve key stakeholders. We consider how to brief those taking part whether they are participants or reviewers and, suggest some areas to help in the preparation of the feedback conversation.

We’re making this available to all our on-line Talent 360 users.
